Multichain smart contract platform Astar Network has announced its partnership with the renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano for his debut NFT collection.
The ‘Candy Girl’ NFT collection will feature 108 angels hand drawn by Amano, and will be released on the Astar blockchain.
Furthermore, Astar also announced plans to build a Web3 entertainment site for the ‘Candy Girl’ collection, which will serve as a branch to new galleries, entertainment and designers.
The ‘Candy Girl’ NFT collection marks the first representation of Amano’s iconic artwork on the blockchain.
Sota Watanabe, founder and CEO of Astar Network said: “Without a doubt, Yoshitaka Amano is a legendary artist in the 21st century. I am very honored to be able to work with him and host his first NFT on Astar Network.”
A legend of fine art
Yoshitaka Amano is a world class Japanese artist responsible for timeless artwork in ‘Speedracer’, ‘Sandman: The Dream Hunters’ and, most notably, ‘Final Fantasy’.
A pioneer in creating impossible worlds that draw from his interests in Western culture, Amano’s unique style of Japanese art is admired across the globe.
Moreover, Amano’s powerful art has led him to collaborate with over 20 authors, inspiring illustrated books which have sold millions of copies.
Yoshitaka Amano said: “For people to see and appreciate my work is a bonus. It makes me want to draw even more. That was already the case when I was a child, and it hasn’t changed ever since.”
A Web3 fine art platform
The ‘Candy Girl’ NFT collection also marks the beginning of Astar Network’s partnership with Twin Planet – the talent management firm that represents Yoshitaka Amano and other popular artists.
This collaboration aims to help fine arts professionals mint their digital assets, and deliver them to the public on a trusted and secure network.
Through a Web3 entertainment site, to be managed by Astar, NFT ownership of fine art will have a direct connection to the real world.
Hence, ‘Candy Girl’ aims to lead the way for Japanese content creators to truly own and distribute their art to a global audience.
In fact, Amano’s stunning collection of angels is already inspiring clothing design at ‘Tokyo Girls Collection 2017’ and high fashion at the Mitsukoshi Ginza’s ‘Discover Tokyo’ event.
Astar on a mission
Astar Network believes that it is now positioned as the blockchain of choice for professional artists to create, auction, and exhibit their work.
Through this exclusive NFT collection, Astar is realizing its vision to bring the East to the West, fine art to blockchain technology, and international leaders to the Web3 world.
Astar’s ecosystem has already become Polkadot’s leading Parachain globally, supported by all major exchanges and tier 1 VCs.
The platform’s Build2Earn model empowers developers to get paid through a dApp staking mechanism for the code they write and dApps they build.
