Pixelverse has launched a closed beta for its new browser-based game, introducing $TON microtransactions outside of its traditional Telegram platform for the first time.
This development is part of Pixelverse’s strategy to expand beyond its initial focus on mini-games within Telegram, aiming to provide users with a more immersive and interactive experience.
The closed beta allows early supporters to test the game and provide feedback ahead of a planned public release in late 2024.
More About Pixelverse Closed Beta
The new game is set in Neopolis City, a cyberpunk environment where players can explore, complete quests, and collect items.
The game’s mechanics allow for player actions to impact the virtual economy, reflecting the web3 integration that Pixelverse is known for. This browser game marks a shift from Pixelverse’s earlier Telegram-based mini-game, PixelTap, which gained popularity through its use of TON blockchain technology.
Pixelverse has previously found success with its NFT collections on the TON blockchain, which provided players with various in-game benefits and exclusive content. The transition to a browser-based game with integrated microtransactions aims to connect the existing community of about 10 million monthly active users on Telegram to a broader, more complex gaming platform.
“We are leveraging our massive user base on Telegram to expand organically beyond the platform,” said Kirill Volgin, CEO of Pixelverse. “Many Telegram mini-game users have discovered crypto through these mini-apps in recent months, and now we’re ready to offer them a richer, more complex gaming experience outside the mobile ecosystem. Our next step is to deepen the web3 integration, moving beyond hyper-casual games to deliver a more immersive experience.”
The closed beta is currently accessible to early supporters, offering a preview of the game’s features and functionality. The public release is scheduled for Q4 2024, signaling a significant step for Pixelverse as it expands its offerings and adapts to the evolving landscape of web3 gaming.
