Immutable has recently announced the closure of its Immutable X Marketplace beginning on August 13 with the site ceasing operations entirely by September 27.
The Immutable Marketplace was initially launched to demonstrate the capabilities of the Immutable SDK and is now redirecting focus towards supporting third-party marketplaces rather than maintaining its own trading platform.
Following this announcement, users and developers are now being guided on how to transition to alternative marketplace solutions.
What is Immutable X Marketplace?
Immutable X Marketplace is a gas-free platform designed to facilitate the trading of NFTs and other digital assets, leveraging the StarkEx Layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum.
The platform supported various games and digital collectibles and has gained popularity for its eco-friendly approach and partnership with various gaming projects, including Gods Unchained, Guild of Guardians, Cross the Ages, and many more.
The platform was initially built as a showcase of features that are available to developers via the Immutable SDK.
What should users do?
Users of the Immutable Marketplace will not need to take any special actions regarding their assets.
All NFTs and tokens are stored on the blockchain, tied to users’ wallet addresses, and accessible across different marketplaces that utilize the Immutable Global Orderbook. This orderbook ensures that listings remain consistent across various platforms, meaning users’ listings will still be active on other marketplaces without any additional steps required.
Users are also encouraged to explore several third-party alternatives for trading NFTs on the Immutable X chain and suggested a few marketplaces such as TokenTrove, AtomicHub, and Sphere.
In addition to these, other platforms such as Rarible, Mintable, and NFTrade also support trading on Immutable X.
