Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently took a jab at the Solana blockchain, lauding Sui as the better option.
Hoskinson’s comment came amid Sui’s positive trajectory in recent months, which saw the network’s Total Value Locked (TVL) reach a new all-time high of $900 million on September 23. During the same period, Sui’s native token logged an impressive 39% jump within a week to exchange hands at $1.6.
Hoskinson Praises Sui
Hoskinson’s comparison of Sui with Solana stemmed from an October 4 post on X (formerly Twitter), revealing how he had read about Sui and thought the network deserved “great success” in the cryptocurrency landscape.
One user responded to the post, noting their amazement that “Hoskinson is digging Sui tech.” The user said Sui’s object-oriented approach to blockchain technology positioned the network as a game changer for the whole digital asset industry, a statement that Hoskinson quickly agreed with.
“It’s what Solana should have been. I still think Cardano’s approach is superior for a long list of reasons, but Sui has some real innovations.” Hoskinson wrote.
This isn’t the first time the Cardano founder has taken a jab at Solana, the third-largest blockchain with a TVL of 5.4 billion according to CoinGecko data.
In February, a Solana-linked account on X shared an update regarding the network’s outage on mainnet beta, noting that engineers across the ecosystem were investigating the issue as part of the remediation process.
Hoskinson responded to the post by sharing a meme showing a video game player blowing into a cartridge before re-inserting it into the console. He told the engineers “This also works,” implying that Solana was outdated and could be restarted the old-fashioned way.
